A Word About the Author of Xmt

David Flanagan was the initial author of the Xmt library. He wrote it and the book Motif Tools out of a long-standing frustration with the usability of Motif and the X Toolkit. Unfortunately, Motif Tools book is now out of print, and David has moved on to programming with and writing about Java -- he hasn't used Motif or written a line of C code in 4 years! David will continue to be involved in the open-source Xmt project, but only in a passive role.

David's other books include Java in a Nutshell and JavaScript: The Definitive Guide, both published by O'Reilly & Associates. He has a degree in computer science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. David's website is www.davidflanagan.com. In the real world, however, he lives with his wife and son in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, between the cities of Seattle, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia.
